Open Source Activism
Open Source Activism as promoted and translated to us by the Not For Sale campaign (founded by Dr. David Batstone):
"All too often campaigns and non-profit organizations require their activists to follow a strict guideline for action. This process almost insinuates that individuals must become highly skilled before they can act. 'Open Source Activism' (OSA) organizations flip this notion on its head. What they believe is that people have different talents, therefore they can enact change in a variety of ways. To effectively combat modern slavery we must completely re-think our understanding of the marriage between action and organization." (NFS Campaign)
"Human trafficking is too large of an issue for one person or institution to end. The truth is that within each and every individual exists a talent, a gift and/or a conviction that can be used to fight trafficking - used to change the world as we know it."(Dr. David Batstone, NFS Campaign)
The idea of Open Source activism can be difficult for some to grasp, the emphasis on 'just do something' can leave one asking 'what can I do?' Fight For Others is our answer on what we can do.
