Join us in the fight for others

We - as students, teachers, parents, children, all people - have the ability to change the lives of human trafficking victims through open source activism. As an international service project, we want you to join us and support our efforts to raise money, awareness and real change in the lives of child sex slaves, child soldiers and victims of forced labor.

Fight For Others is a volunteer LLC started by College of Charleston students and social entrepreneurs who want to dedicate their time and energy towards producing real world effects in the lives of women and children in the worst of situations - globally.

The Reality of Human Trafficking

It is estimated today that 27 millon people are enslaved in the world. This black market business is hard to track and harder to prosecute. It is a 32 billion dollar a year industry with the average price of an individual being less than a new cell phone, roughly $90. 80% are women and 50% are children. An estimated one million children are forced into the sex trade industry. This is the fastest growing illegal trafficking activity in the world.

We understand that this is a complex issue that not only revolves around the sex trade industry but also includes forced labor involving legitimate businesses, global organized crime syndicates and the global economy.

Mission #1 - Fact-Finding

Our goal is to conduct a fact finding mission to Thailand and Cambodia in summer 2008 in order to learn first-hand about the many aspects of Human Trafficking. We want to conduct on the ground interviews with various governmental and non-governmental agencies dealing with these issues in order to gain fact-based knowledge that we wish to document with pictures, digital voice recordings and digital video in order to pass this knowledge on to the people of Charleston, SC.  Our hope is that people here will take an active part in combating these complex issues and will be willing to give a little to help fund projects either already in place or go above and beyond and make bigger contributions to build schools for women and children less fortunate than ourselves.
